The Cake Shop, Liverpool.

The brief for this project was to refit Liverpool’s iconic cake shop in Central Station in a style and quality that befitted the shop’s reputation. The solution was to use birch-faced plywood to create an adjustable shelving system that was as bespoke as the cakes it displays. Each shelf is sized to carry a single cake and can be positioned, by the use of an innovative dowel-and-bracket design, anywhere along the 7m-long wall.

The design was finished off with a counter that wraps around the macaroon and cupcake chiller, and used the holes from the disply shelves as a design motif. Standing behind the counter is the shops new logo [designed by Smiling Wolf], engraved by hand into the birch ply.
